Wash water and environmental controls
The fastest way for a transport operator to attract a Blacktown City Council or EPA problem is oily wash water reaching a stormwater pit. Every pressure washing job we do on a depot starts with identifying where the water will go. Grates are bunded or covered, wash water is directed to the trade waste connection or the oil separator, and where there is no drainage option we vacuum-recover the water and dispose of it through a licensed liquid waste contractor.

Depot cleaning questions from Arndell Park transport operators
When can you clean a depot that has trucks moving all night?
Depots are the hardest sites to find a window in, because the fleet is out during the day and back in the yard overnight. What works on most Arndell Park depots is a mid-morning shift, between about nine and two, once the linehaul has departed and before the afternoon returns. Workshop bays are cleaned individually as your mechanics release them, and yard pressure washing is booked for a weekend when the hardstand is close to empty.
How do you deal with oil and diesel on a workshop floor?
Heavy deposits get an absorbent and a scrape first, because pushing a scrubber through standing oil just spreads it and ruins the recovery tank. Then a solvent-emulsifying degreaser is applied, given real dwell time, and worked with a cylindrical brush machine that reaches into the surface texture. Wash water is captured and directed to your oil separator or triple interceptor, never allowed to run to the yard drains.
Do you clean service pits and under-hoist areas?
Yes, with limits. Open service pits are cleaned from ground level and from the pit floor where the pit is ventilated, guarded and not classified as a confined space. If your pit is deep, poorly ventilated or your own risk assessment classes it as confined space entry, we bring in a confined space qualified crew with gas monitoring and a standby person rather than sending a general cleaner down there.
Can you clean the wash bay itself, including the sump and grates?
We do. A wash bay that is never cleaned stops draining, and a blocked sump is how a depot ends up with a stormwater incident. Grates are lifted, silt and rag are removed and disposed of through a licensed waste contractor, walls and splash zones are cleaned back, and the bay floor is degreased. Frequency is usually monthly. Note that we clean wash bays, we do not operate a truck wash service.
What about the yard, hardstand and parking bays?
Hardstand cleaning is quoted separately from the buildings and usually runs quarterly. We pressure wash the parking bays where trailers stand and drip, sweep the trafficked areas mechanically, clear the drainage grates and treat the diesel staining around the fuel island. Line marking for bays and pedestrian routes is repainted more cheaply straight after a wash, so we sequence the two together where you want both.
